Anti-Japan Protest in Shanghai
This weekend, the stage has moved to Shanghai.
Reuters: "In the third weekend of violent protests against Japan across China, thousands marched on the Japanese consulate in Shanghai, smashing windows with rocks and pelting it with paint bombs and attacking Japanese restaurants along the way." This is despite of government warnings in the last two days.

This is in contrary to tips and expectations that have been widely-circulated on the internet in the past serveral days.
Shanghai-based blogger Dan Washburn was on the protest site. The protion of the protest he saw was peaceful. Some photos and video clips in here, here and here that he took.
Update: Oh no, the protest in some parts of the protest was out-of-control. Protesters smashed windows and rear mirrors of Japanese cars they could spot along the demonstration route, according to an eye-witness account by a Chinese blogger. [via Sidekick]

"But with thousands of paramilitary police on the streets of Beijing and students warned against protests, authorities headed off a repeat of last weekend's violent demonstrations in the capital, which hosts Japan's foreign minister on Sunday.
Police also barred incidents in southern Guangzhou and southwestern Chongqing, where thousands marched last weekend."
