Rant: Browser Crashes On OSX When Inputting Chinese Characters

Both Safari and Firefox have crashed for nth times this morning when I tried to write a Gmail in Chinese. Generally, it crashes everytime when I tried to type Chinese inside a web browser. The crash is guaranteed whenever I type in either "," or the Chinese full-stops.

Is there something wrong with the Chinese input in OSX or OSX itself that I don't know of?
