Ray Huang: "China is not a Snow White nor a witch"

Some rather unexpected reactions here and there to the news roundup on the Chinese blogosphere; and my response.

I hope the recent post on the Chinese blogosphere did not perpetuate moral relativism. That was never the intention.

Anyway, tonight I am reminded of what Chinese historian and professor Ray Huang (黃仁宇) once wrote in his autobiography, Yello river and Blue Mountains (黃河青山:黃仁宇回憶錄): "China is not a snow white nor a witch" as many Western observers perceived. That was a message he tried to convey in America for most part of his life.
